Hotter, Wetter, Weirder: Climate Change in Philadelphia with Author/Naturalist Mike Weilbacher
As 2021’s Hurricane Ida showed us, climate change is already happening in Philadelphia as our climate gets hotter, wetter, and decidedly weirder. But what’s the evidence for climate change locally? What are the trends in temperature and rainfall? You’ll not only be surprised by the data, but motivated to find solutions. In this must-see lecture, writer-naturalist Mike Weilbacher walks you through the science, carefully answering your questions while weaving politics and pop culture into the conversation.
Weilbacher travels the region presenting lectures, walks, and programs on nature and the environment, everything from the life cycle of migrating monarch butterflies to the emerging issue of microplastics.
He’s the author of Wild Philly: Explore the Amazing Nature in and Around Philadelphia, a book that features 25 walks to explore the best of the Delaware Valley’s nature. After his talk, he’ll be available to sell and sign copies of his book. The book contains full descriptions of 25 nature walks in the region, calendarized, so it becomes a whole year of great walks.
The book cost is $27.55 ($25.99 plus tax) and may be paid via check, credit card or Venmo. (You also can pay in cash, of course, but the author won’t have change.)
Lunch will be served! And we’ll have beverages & Cindi’s delicious desserts! The program begins at 12:30 p.m.
