Celebrating Nancy Daniel

Our first member spotlight is on Nancy Daniel. Nancy has been part of the SSCA for more than 8 years. After reading about it in Town Talk, she said, “I thought: it’s close, I’ll try it. And, lo and behold, the programs were interesting, and I met lots of great people. Being part of the Seniors introduced me to Swarthmore activities, like the Players Club and Swarthmore College events as well.”
Nancy has had a lifelong interest and involvement with music. When asked what her favorite music is, “It’s just good music,” Nancy said. “I have a particular appreciation for well-performed music which usually means an engaging performer.” Music as a form of communication has always been of particular interest to me, especially after teaching in a public school in Chicago. There I saw the effect it could have building self-esteem, moments of joy, and respect for those of different abilities.
Nancy has been an engaged and active SSCA member and volunteer. Some of her favorite activities include the SSCA trips and the Walks & Trails programs. As a leader in our organization, she served for three years as President. In 2024 she organized our Ducks in a Row group. Nancy is looking forward to planning a Road Scholar trip soon. We are grateful that Nancy is part of the community of the SSCA.
